I came to art relatively late in life. After a career roaming the world with the army, followed by a couple of spells working locally and in South East Asia, I decided to study for a Diploma in Fine Arts at Salisbury College - one of my better decisions.
My art is primarily inspired by my life-long love of early jazz. My aim is to capture this joyful, brash and exuberant music in free flowing, rhythmic colour. In more reflective moments I enjoy sketching and life drawing, which often forms the source of my colourful pastel paintings.
Originally from the Wirral, I now live on the outskirts of Salisbury, just a few minutes walk from Old Sarum. The city, its Cathedral Close and beautiful surrounding countryside are constant sources of inspiration.
When not creating vivid
works of art, I try to play the baritone in a local band and am trying to learn the 4th chord on my guitar.
